A few days ago a received an email, one of those forwarded messages that generally goes unread to the trash folder. Because the message came from one of our partners I opened it but the mouse was already pointing to the delete button. Well, I ended up writing about it.
I’m reproducing the message bellow though I do not entirely agree with Steve Job’s description. I do believe that Steve Jobs was a great personality of the IT industry, on the other hand, the media attention offered to these two geniuses is highly unfair for Dennis Ritchie.
At Key Soft, we are developing software applications written in C++ (a C succesor) and we are using Windows, Linux, Unix and OS X operating systems. All of these are available thanks to Dennis Ritchie.
Thank you Dennis Ritchie!
Please share with your friends. Let them know who was Dennis Ritchie.
Without Steve Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) we would have:
- No iProducts
- No over expensive laptops
Without Dennis Ritchie (September 9, 1941 – October 12, 2011) we would have:
- No Windows
- No Unix
- No C
- No Programs
- A large setback in computing
- No Generic-text Languages.
- We would all read in Binary..
They died in the same year and the same month but it seems only few notice the death of Dennis Ritchie compared to Steve Jobs.
